Local Business SEO Tips
Google, you’ve Changed. Every year, Google make a multitude of changes to their ranking algorithms that will make your website go up and down the results like a roller coaster, and as an SEO professional, that’s how it feels too. Google is fed up of people gaming the system to get their sites up the ranks, and I can understand that. Google make most of their income from flogging Google Ads, so they don’t really want you cementing your place at the top of the results consistently. They would rather you took an advert and paid for it.
All is not lost, though. There are still some great tips and tricks to make sure you are presenting your website in the bast light, but the days of quick wins and aiming for global domination on the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPS) are over. If you want to top for a generic phrase then you need to be a big player in that field. If you are a start-up or just getting into that business then put SEO wins as long term goals.
If you are serving a local audience there are lots of things you can do to improve your rank, and quickly.
Here are my three SEO tips for you, once you know what it is you want to be found for.
1) The basics don’t change.
Your page naming, title and heading conventions, should be paramount in what you are doing.
2) Appeal to Humans
Write content that featured the keywords & phrases that you want to be found for, but don’t let that ruin the flow of your content.
3) Cover all bases
Make sure that the copy you write includes the place names that you serve. Essential for local audience.
Don’t even think about anything else unless you can tick the boxes on these three things, because often, this is all you need.
